JUMP TO ICED KROFFEE RECIPE

Ever stared down your iced coffee, wishing it could give you the focus you need without the agitation, sweaty palms, and hyperactivity? If you’re trying to reduce your coffee intake (but you’re not ready to cut out caffeine entirely) we’ve got a new springtime sidekick to introduce you to: the iced matcha kratom latte.

This frosty favorite is naturally energizing with double the benefits (and half the bitterness) of plain green tea or kratom tea. It hits the sweet spot between bright, uplifting matcha and the gentle “you-got-this” nudge of kratom.

Perfect for powering through hot afternoons or adding a not-as-over-the-top spark to your morning routine.

Double the Green, Double the Benefits

  1. Smoother Energy: Coffee jitters? Hard pass. In this recipe, kratom alkaloids provide energy and extra focus, while matcha’s caffeine can offer a bit of pep—all at a more sustainable speed than your usual iced latte.
  2. Mood & Mindset Support: Kratom alkaloids aren’t just energizing; they can also provide a sense of comfort and relaxation. Matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid that can work synergistically with caffeine to support alertness and alleviate stress. So on those days when you need a feel-good pick-me-up, this balanced blend of matcha and kratom might do the trick.
  3. Antioxidants: Matcha is revered for its antioxidant content (especially its catechins), and kratom also shows promising antioxidant potential.

How Much of Each Plant Should I Use?

To get the benefits you want from your iced kratom matcha latte, you should carefully choose the quantities of each ingredient based on your experience level and physical/mental needs. Everyone’s body handles these two green powerhouses differently.

When combining the kratom and matcha, we recommend using a smaller amount of each than you would if you were just drinking one or the other.

  • Lighter brew: ¼ tsp matcha + 1 kratom tea bag steeped for 10 minutes (or ½-1 gram kratom powder)
  • Stronger brew: ½ tsp matcha + 1 kratom tea bag steeped for 20 minutes (or 1.5-2 grams kratom powder)

If you’re new to one or both of these plants, we recommender starting with a lighter brew. Then, if the effects of your iced kratom matcha latte are too intense, you can make it with smaller amounts of matcha or kratom. Alternatively, you can make the recipe as written, and just drink a fraction of it at one time. If you have leftover tea, you can store it in the fridge for 3-5 days.

On the other hand, if you’re not really feeling the effects, you can double the recipe or increase the amount of matcha and/or the amount of kratom tea. You can also steep the kratom tea longer to make it stronger instead of using more tea bags.

Iced Matcha Kratom Latte Ingredients: What You’ll Need (and Why)

Iced Matcha Kratom Latte Recipe for Smooth, Steady Energy – Top Tree Herbs

Different varieties of matcha, tea, milk, and sweeteners will have different effects on your mind and body.

  • High-Quality Matcha: Ceremonial matcha typically has the highest concentration of L-theanine and catechins (not to mention, the brightest green hues and best flavors), but daily grade matcha works great in lattes too.
  • High-Quality Kratom Tea: Kratom tea (either in tea bags or loose leaf) can be brewed and chilled for a smoother, less-bitter experience. Alternatively, you can use kratom powder, but it will add some grit and bitterness to your latte. Green or white vein kratom tends to pair nicely with matcha.
  • Milk of Choice: Pea milk, soy, oat—choose whatever makes your taste buds dance. We typically use Ripple or Silk, because they have a high protein content and zero added sweetener.
  • Sweetener (Optional): A hint of sweetness can take this latte from “yum” to “gimme now!” Avoid counteracting the energizing and focusing effects of the kratom and matcha by keeping the sweetness light and choosing options like agave, xylitol, maple syrup, or allulose.
  • Warm Water: To make your latte, you’ll start by whisking your matcha powder with a small amount of water. Make sure the water isn’t too hot—boiling water can damage the nutrients and ruin the delicate flavors.

Regardless of which particular varieties of matcha and kratom you choose, make sure you buy them from companies that perform quality testing for strength, heavy metals, and microbiological contaminants!

  • Optional: 2 tsp maple syrup, creamer, or other sweetener, more or less to taste

Equipment

  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)
  • Bamboo whisk (chasen) or metal whisk
  • For Method 2: small pot
Method 1: Pre-Made Iced Tea (Quickest Method)
  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or glass to prevent clumping, then add in the warm water.
  2. Stir or whisk until clumps are gone.
  3. Pour in the chilled tea, milk of choice, and (optional) sweetener or creamer. Stir to combine.
  4. Add the ice and enjoy.
Method 2: Stovetop Brew with Kratom Tea Bags
  1. Add kratom tea bag and water to a small pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a low simmer.
  2. Steep at a low simmer for 10-20 minutes. Keep the pot uncovered until about ⅓-½ cup of tea remains, then cover the pot for the rest of the steep time.
  3. Allow the tea to cool slightly, then remove the tea bag.

  3. Pour in the tea, milk of choice, and (optional) sweetener or creamer. Stir to combine.
  4. Add the ice.

Recipe Notes

  • Matcha Type: Ceremonial grade matcha is great, but for a latte, you can also use daily grade matcha. Because the recipe contains milk, sweetener, and kratom, the flavor of the matcha won’t stand out as much. As with kratom, it’s important to select high-quality matcha that has been tested for heavy metals and other contaminants.
  • Amount of Matcha: To make a medium matcha latte, some people prefer to use more than ½ tsp matcha powder. When combining matcha with kratom, we recommend using a smaller amount of each, because the effects of both plants combined can be stronger than each individually.
  • Kratom Type: You can use whichever variety of plain kratom tea you’d like for this recipe. We recommend green or white vein, but any variety will be great.
